Case Study: Melissa Enfield - Pioneering Collingwood’s Movement Community

The Work: Launching The Schoolhouse Collingwood

Melissa Enfield, a passionate Movement Instructor, embarked on a groundbreaking venture — the launch of Collingwood's first-ever dedicated rental studio space, The Schoolhouse Collingwood. Our collaboration involved strategic Thought Partnership to turn Melissa's vision into a thriving reality.

I knew I needed help with my business plan. I knew Jessica had the skills to help me. What I didn't realize was how indispensable she would be to my overall development as a woman in business.

Project Goals: Shaping the Future of Movement Instruction in Collingwood

  1. Launch a Dedicated Rental Studio: Our primary goal was to bring to life Collingwood's first-ever dedicated rental studio for a vibrant community of movement instructors. This involved meticulous planning and execution to create a space conducive to diverse movement practices.

  2. Build and Nurture a Team of Support: To support legal and website needs, we worked on assembling a dedicated team of professionals. This collaborative effort ensured that legal aspects were addressed, thanks to Locicero Legal, and the website reflected the essence of The Schoolhouse Collingwood, thanks to the talents of Creative by Caitlin.

  3. Support Systems Development and Standard Operating Procedures: The establishment of robust Systems Development and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) was vital for the seamless functioning of the studio. We worked alongside Melissa to develop efficient systems that upheld the vision and values of The Schoolhouse.

  4. Advise on Marketing Schedule Creation and Instructor Onboarding: Crafting an effective marketing schedule was crucial for attracting instructors and clients alike. I provided strategic advice on marketing initiatives and streamlined the onboarding process for instructors, fostering a sense of community from the outset.

Jess doesn’t just help you put your big dreams into action, she teaches you HOW to put your big dreams into action. I appreciate the spreadsheets, timetables, marketing tips, design advice, creative leads and countless times she talked me off the ledge

The Service Utilized: Thought Partnership

Operations and systems-thinking were key to Melissa’s custom Thought Partnership package, where we worked side-by-side from obtaining the keys to the rental, to opening the doors to this community-focused initiative. This all-encompassing service navigated every aspect of her business launch, including but not limited to:

  • High-Touch Communication: Weekly meetings, email and text support

  • Creation of a Roadmap: Charting the course for the entire duration of the agreement.

  • Collaborative Connections: Expanding Melissa’s professional network to offer her top-notch support across all of her start-up needs

  • Creation of Onboarding and SOPs: From advising on overall business structure to the nitty gritty member onboarding, Melissa had my support as a Fractional COO

A space that suites instructors of all modalities: Yoga, Pilates, Barre, and Dance, and is also the perfect backdrop for intimate workshops.

Outcome: The Birth of The Schoolhouse Collingwood

Through our Thought Partnership and collaborative efforts, The Schoolhouse Collingwood emerged as a vibrant hub for movement instruction. The studio not only filled a gap in the Collingwood community but also became a testament to Melissa's dedication and our collective vision.

Melissa Enfield's journey showcases the power of strategic planning and thoughtful execution in establishing a pioneering venture. If you're ready to bring your vision to life, let's connect and explore the possibilities for your next venture.

But what I truly value is that because of Jess, I can now do those things (well, most of them) myself. And trust me, that is a small miracle. She’s a teacher, a cheerleader and a business partner all in one. Her services were literally the best and most important money I spent in start up. I can’t recommend her enough.
